Announcement re: MOBILITY APPLIANCES
Due to liability issues, sadly, the Poppy House is no longer taking on the responsibility of either accepting, or loaning out, mobility appliances, such as walkers, canes, wheelchairs, scooters, etc.
Any Veteran, or surviving spouse of a Veteran, in need of such items is asked to contact the Service officer at their nearest Legion Branch to apply for DVA assistance. You need not be a Legion Member to talk to a Branch Service Officer.. If the DVA turns you down, please fill out a Poppy Fund Assistance application, available on this website under REPORTS, or from the Poppy House at 21 Regina St N. Please phone first for a mutually convenient appointment (519) 885-1001
Always remember, all emergency assistance requests for Veterans in need will be dealt with by The K-W Poppy Fund, confidentially, on an individual basis, as quickly as possible. It is our goal that no Veteran should have to suffer because of "red tape".
Please feel free to call Cathy at (519) 885-1001. If no one is home, be sure to leave a detailed message. If emergency assistance is required, please email the Chairman directly at 530events@bell.net, and I, or one of our Executive, shall personally deal with your issue as best we can and as soon as we can.
The K-W Poppy Fund exists for our Veterans, and their surviving spouses, and always will be.
